Clone your Clothes: Learn to Replicate a Garment | Workshop | Adults | Saturday November 22nd

CA$175.00

Have a favourite piece in your closet you wish could last forever? We’ll teach you how to make it immortal. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to copy your garment and turn it into a reusable sewing pattern—no seam-ripping required.

We’ll show you the basics of patternmaking, tracing, and measuring. Then we’ll put your work to the test by sewing up a muslin (a quick test garment in cotton fabric). That way you can see your cloned creation in 3D, tweak anything that needs adjusting, and set yourself up to recreate it again (and again, and again).

You’ll learn:

  • The basics of pattern making—understanding shapes, markings, seam allowance, walking off seams and more.

  • How to trace and measure a garment without taking it apart

  • Techniques for creating your own pattern from that piece

  • Tips for minor pattern adjustments.

  • Validate your new pattern with a muslin

Date: Saturday November 22nd
Time: 10am-4pm ( Lunch 12:30-1pm ish)
Location: 263 Columbia Street, Vancouver (Gastown)
Skill Level: No drafting experience required, but should have a basic understanding of how garments are sewn.
What’s included: All drafting paper, muslin fabric, and tools will be provided.
What to Bring: 1 - 3 existing garments that you love and would like to recreate, we’ll help you choose 1 garment to focus on for the workshop (something simple to start with—think tops, skirts, or pants rather than highly tailored jackets).
Special Note: If you don’t think you could sew your chosen garment without instructions, we don’t recommend knocking it off just yet. To get the most out of this workshop, you’ll need to feel confident sewing that type of piece. Not sure what to bring? No problem—Chenko can provide a garment for you to clone during the workshop so you can still learn the process.
