Unusable Fabric scraps are almost always created with a regular sewing pattern. This is because the pattern pieces are only designed with the finished garment in mind. The design does not consider the waste created throughout the creation process.

A zero waste pattern is designed so each piece fits together like a puzzle. With this method, fabric waste is eliminated at the cutting stage of a project. The space between each pattern piece is utilized, eliminating unusable fabric scraps. You have to be careful when cutting, as there is no buffer between the edges of the pattern pieces.
